2017 NBC15 Share Your Holidays

About NBC15 Share Your Holidays to eliminate hunger

2017 marks the 22nd year for NBC15 Share Your Holidays to eliminate hunger. We've set our most ambitious goal EVER - to raise 3.86 million meals for families struggling with hunger. Since it's inception in 1996, southwestern Wisconsin's largest food/fund drive campaign has raised nearly 36 million meals.

This year's theme, The Power on ONE, is based on one donation given through the Grand Finale Phone-a-thon in 2016. A donor called in and made a gift of $3.86, adding that it was all she had in her account until the next week. She said we were an "amazing organization," and while she was struggling at the time, she knew her gift would help others struggling even more.

NBC15 Share Your Holidays to eliminate hunger offers a myriad of fun events and opportunities for corporations, organizations, schools and individuals to raise funds, food and awareness for hunger relief.

The campaign launched in 1996 with the vision of the late NBC15 News Anchor Mike McKinney, who grew up in a low-income household where food wasn't always available, for community members to help their neighbors facing hunger. NBC15 teamed up with Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin and the Wisconsin National Guard and, in the first year, collected enough food and funds to provide 46,000 meals to those in need.

Twenty-two years later, emergency food assistance demands have greatly increased. In fact, Second Harvest Foodbank is meeting nearly one million requests for help each year. With your help, we can raise more meals for families at risk of hunger! Find out more about Second Harvest Foodbank and our mission here.
